Transylvania County has unsurprisingly embraced Halloween and an annual festival is held in downtown Brevard, celebrating ghosts, ghouls and dressing up. The 36th Annual Halloweenfest will be held Saturday, Oct. 27.
Prior to the festival, the Brevard Rotary Club will host its annual 5K and Fun Run. For more information, go to www.brevardrotary.org. Another early morning event on Oct. 27 is the Transylvania Farmers’ Market, which will feature Halloween-related events. For more information, go to www.transylvaniafarmersmarket.com.
Halloweenfest is a full day of Halloween fun for the entire family in downtown. No one s
ould be bored with the list of activities plannedthroughout the day, including the largest costume contest in the region that fea
tures cash prizes; a costume parade; an Old Time Music Showcase at the courthouse gazebo; a pet costume parade; a blood drive; and trick-or-treating. Another popular contest involves pumpkin carving and is held at The Transylvania Times office on North Broad Street.
